A bilateral memorandum between K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional State University and the Tomyon University of the city of Busan was signed last November for the purpose of strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea, studying the Korean language, implementation of joint projects. Work on strengthening the ties between the educational institutions began then and a working trip to the Tonmyon University for the purpose of discussion of questions of the collaborations oriented to partnership was planned.
On January 15-17 of the current year a special delegation including Rector of K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional State University Bauyrzhan Erdembekov, the director of the Center of International Cooperation Gulzhan Tynyshtykbaykyzy Shokym and the director of the Center of Korean language at the University Son Shi Maun went to the Busan University Tonmyon with an official visit. Rector of the Tonmyon University Mr. Zhang Hong Sab warmly welcomed the guests and acquainted them with the work of the University. The head of the Center of International Cooperation Kweon Joong-Rak, the director of Institute of Korean language Ann Jae-Hun, the head of the Department of Information and Communication Engineering of Institute of Engineering Tae-Kook Kim, deans of faculties of Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering participated in the action.
During the meeting negotiations on the issues of general development, two-degree education and on projects for implementation of this program were held. Apart from it, issues of exchange of students and the lecturers’ experience under the program of academic mobility, carrying out joint research work were discussed for the purpose of strengthening the cooperation. Special negotiations on introduction of the program of two-degree education from the next academic year for specialties of Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering were also held.
Following the results of the meeting rectors of two educational institutions signed and approved a special contract on the two-degree education program.
During the trip Bauyrzhan Amangeldyevich met Kazakhstan students studying in Korea. He told them about the achievements of K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional State University and plans for the future.
The Tonmyon University was founded in April, 1977, and is one of the largest higher educational institutions of the Republic of Korea which conducts training of specialists in the sphere of technology. In 2014 this university was recognized as the best University training under targeted projects.
