The history of Central Asia seminar

Today, the seminar on the theme “From the Silk Road to the oil pipelines: constant movement as the basis of economic development in Central Asia” was held at Zhubanov University. The director of the French Institute for Central Asian Studies in Bishkek, professor of the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilization of the city of INALCO Paris, Catherine Pujol conducted this seminar.

Catherine Pujol is the head of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute project, the author of over 125 articles and books on the history and sociology of Central Asia. Her book “Kazakhstan”, was published in 2000 in France, and was translated into Japanese.

Teachers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages attended the seminar. According to the director of the Center for International Cooperation of Zhubanov University Gulzhan Shokym, it is planned to strengthen ties with the French Institute. “In the future, we plan to hold such events for all faculties. Seminars on such topics are especially important for teachers of the Faculty of History,”says Gulzhan Tynyshytykbaevna. At the end of the 3-day seminar, all participants will be issued certificates.
