The preparation of scientific journals for promotion in the international information space

On November 6, the Department of Science and Innovation Programs organized a seminar on the theme: “Preparing scientific journals for promotion in the international information space: recommendations from Scopus and ScienceDirect” inviting representatives of Elsevier to Kazakhstan.

The vice-rector for Science and Innovation Programs, Rakhim Beknazarov attended the training seminar, also at the seminar participated the director of the department Berikkhan Isbek, doctoral students and young scientists. Dina Shaikhislam and Almagul Kamiyeva were the official representatives of Elsevier in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the participants discussed of preparing high-quality scientific articles for publication in leading international rating journals. In addition, they spoke about the use of information and analytical resources available at the university: Scopus analytical knowledge base of science, ScienceDirect database of full-text journals and the Mendeley bibliographic data management program, as well as exemplary accounts were formed to personalize these authors of scientific publications.

In the framework of the national subscription and with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and ARSU named after K.Zhubanov gained access to the Scopus database, the world’s largest single abstract database, which indexes more than 23,000 scientific, technical, and medical journals of approximately 5,000 international publishers and ScienceDirect. In addition to journals, the subscription project also includes access to 5,000 Elsevier books that support multidisciplinary research in 24 subject areas.

All participants of the seminar were given certificates of participation and training materials. Employees who did not have the opportunity to participate in-person at the seminar, had the opportunity to download the presentation materials and guidelines at ScienceDirect database in Kazakh and Russian languages, just following the link.
