On November 30, 2018, at Aktobe Regional State University named after K. Zhubanov was held the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Latin Graphics: Humanities and Global Integration” organized by the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics within the framework of the Modernization of Spiritual Consciousness program dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the specialty “Kazakh language and literature.”
Scientists from Turkey, Uzbekistan, and from other cities of the Republic of Kazakhstan were invited to the international conference. The doctor of philological sciences, professor, dean of the faculty of the Uzbek language and literature of Alisher Navoi Tashkent State University L.R. (Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan), doctor of philological sciences, professor of Andijan State University named after Z.M. Babur Shakhabitdinov Sh. Kh. (Andijan, Republic of Uzbekistan) took part in the conference.
Also at the conference took part the PhD of Istanbul University Türkana Hüseynova (Istanbul, Turkey), head of the grammar department of the A. Baitursynov Institute of Linguistics, doctor of philology, professor Zhubaeva OS (Almaty), head of the methodological department of the center “Tіl-Kazyna”, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Sapina S.M. (Astana), Doctor of Philosophy, Professor O. Bekezhan and candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Abdrakhmanova Zh.M. from Atyrau State University named after H. Dosmukhamedov (Atyrau).
The conference coincided with the opening ceremony of the audience named after Rabiga Syzdykova in the framework of the action “Gratitude to the Teacher” in connection with the 30th anniversary of the specialty “Kazakh language and literature”. The audience of academician R. Syzdykova was equipped thanks to the sponsorship of graduates.
The conference provided the opportunity to identify the problems of using Latin script, the development of the Kazakh script and the draft spelling of the Kazakh language, adopted based on the new alphabet. The conference was held in such areas as: “The Role of the Latin Alphabet in World Integration and Humanities”, “The spelling project is a new stage in the history of Kazakh writing,” “The problems of translating Kazakh writing on the basis of the Latin into digital technologies”, “Ways of introducing the Latin alphabet in the educational process. Teachers of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics Kondybay KA, Kushkimbaeva AS conducted the training, and Okasova G. Zh., Tleumuratova Zh. S. showed their master classes.
The work of the international scientific conference “Latin Graphics: Humanities and Global Integration” was very significant in achieving its goals, the problems of the Kazakh alphabet and spelling based on Latin graphics, raised in the reports, should receive further improvement and define the program direction in the work of the university in this direction.
