On February 8–9, 2019 was held a selection of start-up projects for students to undergo incubation at a Startup Academy. It was named “# 2 Startup Fair” (or “Startup Fair”).
The event was held for the second time in a startup weekend format and lasted two days. On the first day, startups were trained in the development of entrepreneurial thinking and familiarized themselves with the Kanvas business model.
On the second day, start-ups presented their ideas to existing entrepreneurs. The jury consisted of: the Head of Aktobe Center, Zhuman Zine, the founder of Fashion Syndicate, designer Malika Duisenbaeva, the board member of the Association of Business Women of Kazakhstan in Aktobe oblast, head of Baghetto LLP Zhanymgul Tuleuova, director of Abyz Group LLP Yerlan Asanov, Founders of Adil Nurtabys LLP Adilov Nurtugan and Isengaziev Islam and head of the non-financial business support department of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken in Aktobe oblast Yerzhan Nurgaliyev.
70 applications from students from all faculties of the university were submitted for participation. As a result, 12 projects were selected: 3 startups (“MidMar”, “Dragon Breath”, “Up”) of the faculty “Economics and Law”, 3 startups (“Eco-bags”, “Chlorophytum”, “Emen”) of the faculty “Natural History”, 2 start-ups (“Noname”, “Freedom”) of the faculty “Foreign languages”, start-ups of students of the vocational-creative faculty (“Handmade_Nessi” and “Unique”), technical (“24 element”) and physical-mathematical (“3DX”) faculties.
