The presentation of the exhibition took place today at Zhubanov University. The artist from Greece Janis Kyriakidis presented 104 works made in such creative techniques as oil, watercolor, woodcut, linocut, etching, lithography.
At the grand opening of the exhibition, Rakhym Beknazarov ,Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation of the University greeted the participants. “Mr. Yanis arrived in our city of Aktobe at the special invitation of the“ Design ”department of Zhubanov University. This exhibition is included in the plan of events dedicated to the announced Year of Youth, ” the Vice-Rector noted.
The collections of the artist are in museums of different countries: Greece, Russia, Turkey, Belarus, Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Karakalpakstan, Poland, China, USA, Slovakia, etc.
“I am grateful to your city for showing such attention to my modest creativity. I am pleasantly surprised that you are serious about the visual arts. This suggests that the prospect of your city is very optimistic. Because on the roots of culture grows the consciousness of the people. It seems to me that you ng guys working in the field of visual arts have a good perspective, ”shared Mr Janis.
In turn, the curator of the exhibition, a member of the Council of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a professor of art history at Zhubanov University, Marziya Zhaksygarin spoke about the work of Janis Kyriakidis and expressed sincere words of gratitude.
Janis Kyriakidis is a member of the Union of Artists of Greece, UNESCO International Association of Plastic Arts.
Books with illustrations by the artist are in the works of Shakespeare, books of Goethe, Pushkin, Kuprin, Avicenna, Dehlevi, Navoi, Mallarme, Stendhal, Gorky, Hamid Gulyam, Sharaf Rashidov, Chingiz Aitmatov, Aeshil, Rigas Fereos and others. The books were published in Uzbekistan Russia, India, Hungary, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Japan, Germany, Yugoslavia, Greece.
Janis Kyriakidis is also the author of collections of poems “Repentance of Pilgrim”, “Last Apostle”, “Valley of Spirits”, “Theater Season”, “Heaven of Sinners”, “Mother of the Dog Dingo”, “Candle Confession”.
Since 1956, he participated in more than 400 solo and general exhibitions in the USSR, England, USA, Brazil, France, Greece, Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Austria, Italy, Estonia, Yugoslavia, Finland, Czechoslovakia, Latvia, Chile, Portugal China, Norway, Mongolia, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Bulgaria, Mexico, Slovakia, Argentina, Serbia, Romania.
It is worth noting that the event was also attended by regional artists, art historians, students of the City Palace of schoolchildren, the City Art Lyceum, the Children’s Art School of the village of Badamsha, and university students.
