Zhubanov University has achieved a certain success in student sports for the first time in the history of the region.
According to the results of the X-th Summer Universiade, Zhubanov University entered top three universities of the country among 60 universities, taking 2nd place in the overall team standings. The university took part in 20 of 38 sports. Zhubanov University took 48 medals: gold – 21, silver – 11, bronze – 16.
Today, in a solemn atmosphere, the rector of the university Bauyrzhan Erdembekov congratulated and presented diplomas and cash prizes to the winners of the 10th Summer Universiade.
“The athletes of our university adequately defended the honor of the university, taking an honorable second place among the 62 participating universities. This is a great completion of the school year. Now we must confidently keep in the best, multiplying and improving our abilities,” said the head of the university in his congratulatory speech.
The team results: the first place was taken by swimming team and the second team was taken by table tennis team, 2 teams on handball (men, women) are on the 2nd place, and 6 teams on taekwondo among girls, boxing among young men are on the 3rd place, women’s wrestling, chess, marathon and sambo among youths. Among the teams there are also prize-winners, who are in the top 10.
University’s swimming team brought 12 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals to the university’s bank. In the composition of this team record holders and champions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, masters of sports Aibek and Alibek Kamzenov showed their skills.
Aibek Kamzenov, who sincerely thanked the management and faculty for their support, spoke at the solemn event. “We were given strength by our fans in the face of teachers. It is very important to win,”said the champion.
If we talk about the best individual qualifications, a member of the winning table tennis team champion of the Republic of Kazakhstan, master of sports Zhanai Esengeldi scored 108 points.
Al-Farabi Bimaganbet (wrestling on belts), Zhanibek Kartbaev (boxing), Aslan Tazhikov (sambo) and other students of Zhubanov University made their contribution to the victory by taking gold medals.
It is important to note that the winners of the Republican Universiade received a ticket to participate in the XXX World Summer Universiade, which will be held from 3 to 14 July 2019 in Naples (Italy).
