ARSU plans to enter the world QS ranking

This was said today during the international seminar “QS World University Rankings: overview and ranking methodology”.

The seminar was attended by the leading expert of the consulting group QS Shadi Hijazi, Vice-rectors of the University, heads of structural units, deans of faculties, heads of departments, teaching staff.

During the seminar, a number of key issues were put forward for discussion: the achievements of the university in the educational and scientific processes, the further strategic plan, as well as the features of the university (double-degree education, scientific research, etc.).

“It’s one thing we are on the 4th place among the 20 best universities in the country. But to enter the world arena, we need to prepare an appropriate strategy”,

-said Vice-rector for strategic Affairs of the university Kuanyshbek Shunkeev.

In his turn, Mr. Hijazi noted for the global recognition of the University, K. Zhubanov ARSU called for joint work on two main areas.

The rating evaluates universities on the following indicators: activity and quality of research activities, employers ‘ opinion and career potential, teaching and internationalization. The expert of the consulting group shared information about the world rankings, adding that the ranking methodology was revised on the basis of academic reputation, research and balance between students and teachers.

Ten best universities of the country have been determined by the results of QS rating by 2020. In the ranking methodology it is also possible to determine the institutional rating by obtaining the appropriate estimates. In particular, if in 2019 questions about academic resources around the world were answered by 83,000 people, and by 2020 their number will increase by 4094. On the other hand, employers have employed more than 42,000 graduates. In addition, to assess the need to adhere to 3 criteria: 50% of asking questions among the employees of the University, 20% are involved in international research and 30% work with the University.

Taking into account the information received from the leading experts, the management of the university Zhubanov noted that the work will be continued.

The working visit of the consulting group QS World University Rankings will last until August 22, during which experts will hold training sessions for heads of structural units to ensure the quality of education and science research, heads of departments, students, undergraduates and doctoral students.

World University rankings (QS World University Rankings) — a global study and its accompanying ranking of the best universities of world importance in terms of their achievements in education and science. Every year about 1000 universities apply for participation in this ranking.
