Within the framework of the basic direction “Geography of the Sacred Lands of Kazakhstan”, the program of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbaev from September 7 to 12, 2019, with the participation of the Aktobe Regional Department of Culture, Archives and Documentation, the Aktobe Regional Planetarium and the Department of Geography and Tourism of the University, a scientific and practical conference and an
international research expedition were held on the meteor crater Zhamanshin. The purpose of this event is to attract world attention to a unique natural site located in the region, to protect the site, to consider the possibility of creating a geopark on Zhamanshin Crater.
From September 8 to 10, on an expedition to the Zhamanshin Crater, a group of scientists from Russia and Kazakhstan led by Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences P.V. Florensky, as well as Associate Professor of the Department of Geography and Tourism of the History Department, candidate of geographical sciences A.M. Sergeeva conducted research. The continuation of the expedition on September 11 in the scientific and practical conference was attended by the head of the department of geography and tourism A.Zh. Abdenov, associate professor A.M. Sergeeva and students of the specialty geography.
