Zhubanov University held a webinar on “New platforms and innovative formats of distance learning in postgraduate education: foreign experience”.
Moderator Rakhym Beknazarov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, opened the webinar with a welcoming speech. He outlined the main objective of the webinar and the relevance of the topics of the reports.
The report of Adam-Jagiello Rusilowski, professor at the University of Gdansk, PhD, was devoted to the evaluation of the results of postgraduate education in the process of distance learning and the possibilities of Microsoft Team platform. Professor Adam noted the cooperation with Zubanov University in academic mobility and Erasmus+ program. Thus, PhD, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Pedagogy Zhandarbek Imanchiev was invited to give lectures at the University of Gdansk on Erasmus+ program in June, however, in the current emergency situation with the pandemic, the trip is postponed to autumn of this year.
Colleagues from Y. Kupala State University of Grodno, Head of the Educational and Methodological Department Marina Kolotsei, Head of the Educational and Methodological Department for Quality Management Darya Shpak presented the network educational platform of their university, explaining its main resources and capabilities in detail. The Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno has been continuously cooperating with the K. Zhubanov ARGU since 2017 within the Belarusian-Kazakh consortium. Joint scientific experiments in the fields of “Physics”, “Material Science” are carried out with the scientists of the University, and the two-diploma education of master’s students is carried out under the program “Jurisprudence”.
It should be noted that in this situation it is very important to study foreign experience to solve problems arising in the process of distance learning, as well as for further planning.
The director of the scientific centre “Radiation physics of materials” of Zhubanova University Lyudmila Myasnikova told about the scientific apparatus used for registration of the master’s thesis – urgency of the chosen theme, revealing of the purpose and problems of research, novelty, methods and formulation of conclusions. She showed that the development of various ideas to the stage of problem solving is a planned process of scientific research, demonstrating work in the science databases ScienceDirect, Web of Science, ORCID and Publons. Currently, second year master’s students are already completing the process of registration of master’s theses, so they had the opportunity to provide methodological assistance, and first year master’s students have added their luggage of knowledge about the correct registration of the results of scientific research.
The next speech of the Head of Postgraduate Education Department, PhD Nurgul Zhanturina was devoted to the review of alternative formats of Master’s thesis defense used in the world’s leading universities. The procedure of introducing a video report on the defense, TEDh format can be considered for implementation in the future. This will raise the protection procedure to a qualitatively new level. Resources were recommended for creating interactive video presentations for protection, different from traditional formats of Power Point presentations.
The webinar reached the maximum number of participants, was held in an atmosphere of exchange of opinions in the chat, questions. Participants noted the relevance of the topic of the webinar, at their request, some of them were sent papers.
The management thanked their colleagues from partner universities: Gdansk (Poland), Y. Kupala GrSU (Belarus) for valuable experience, as well as colleagues from K. ZhubanovARGU , M. Utemisov West-Kazakhstan State University , Zhangir Khan West-Kazakhstan Agricultural Technical University and other universities, master’s and doctoral students for participation in the webinar.
