ABAI POETRY CONTEST GATHERED PARTICIPANTS FROM THE REGIONS OF KAZAKHSTAN

In his article “Abai and Kazakhstan in the XXI century”, President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the heritage of Abai is a value that allows us to unite as a nation, to develop as a country. In confirmation of this idea, the research center of Zhubanov University “Abaitanu zhane ylttuk ruhaniyat” held the Abai Poetry contest.

The contest, which lasted two months, was attended by young people aged 16 to 30 from different regions of the country. As part of the contest, students performed songs and poems by Abai, combining philosophical thinking with poetry.

The jury included Yertay Ashikbaev, poet, deputy editor-in-chief of “Aktobe” newspaper, Bauyrzhan Babazhanuly, poet, chief editor of “Aktobe” newspaper, Rakhim Beknazarov, vice-rector оf science and innovations, Abat Pangereev, head of “Abaitanu” research center, Berikhan Iisbek, chief scientific secretary of University Mira Baltymova. At an estimation of participants abilities to speak freely in the Kazakh language, to transfer ideas and values of works of Abai were considered.

As a result of the contest, the winners were announced:

1st place and 50 000-tenge prize – Gulbibi Seidali (Kyzylorda);

2nd place and 25 000 tenge – Nazgul Sembayeva (Semey) and Ayim Karshiga (Kostanay region, Amangeldy district);

3rd place and 10 000 tenge – Aida Sakenova (Karaganda), Bauyrzhan Zhaksylykov (Aktobe), Aidana Akseilova (Aktobe).

Aktobe resident Meyramgul Maratbekova, who received the largest number of votes in Instagram, also received 10,000 tenge as a prize for audience sympathy. In addition, active participants of the contest received the author’s book “Abaitanu” by Bauyrzhan Yerdembekov.
