In 2019, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Association “Kazakhstan Council of Foreign Investors” the Professional Development and Career Center was organized at Zhubanov University.
Today, a briefing on the results of the Centre’s work, as well as for the exchange of experience in employment of graduates was held, in which, in addition to the management and staff of the university, representatives of Universum Global (Stockholm, Sweden), the Labor Resources Department of the corporation CNPC (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Philip Morris Kazakhstan . (Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Kazakhstan), KIMEP University Career and Employment Services (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Atameken SPE, etc.took part.
During the online meeting, Sergey Vishipanov, General Director of the online platform for digitalization of job fairs “Faculty”, told about joint work on employment of graduates and creation of digital labor exchange at Zhubanov University. The experience of cooperation with Zhubanov University was also shared by Evgenya Gerdia from Universum Global, a world leader in HR branding.
In turn, the head of the Career Center Baktygul Ertleuova spoke in detail about employment of graduates. It was noted that during the year of the Center’s operation about 50 meetings with students and partner companies were organized and held, including Friday career meetings of students of various educational programs with potential employers, meetings with district akims in the format of “Open microphone”, etc. Thus, one of the productive events was “Traektoriya: Martuk”. The meeting organized within the framework of “Young Specialist”, “With diploma to village” programs for elimination of personnel deficiency in districts together with Martuk Akimat became a platform for employment of graduates in schools, creative houses, etc.
In connection with the pandemic, many planned meetings of the Career Center of Zhubanov University were transferred to a remote format. The traditional distribution of “Graduate” at the request of the Regional Department of Education for the training direction “Education” was held on the Zoom platform. According to the request of the Department of Education of Aktobe region, the need for teaching staff is 636 places, in turn, in 2019-2020 academic year Zhubanov University on pedagogical specialties finishes 607 graduates, who if they wish will be 100% employed. Also, an HR meeting with the university’s social partners was held remotely, where more than 100 vacancies from 22 companies in the region were presented.
In late May, Zhubanov University was one of the first universities in Kazakhstan to hold a digital fair for its graduates and employers. The main goal of the new online platform is a simple and fast way to employ Bachelor and Master graduates. To date, the digital labour exchange has about 150 job offers from 45 companies and institutions, and 88 graduates have already been invited to work.
According to Baktygul Ertleuova, head of the Center for Professional Development and Career, the functions of the platform will be gradually expanded, which will allow students from the 3rd year to place resumes and contact with potential employers. Besides, the work on digital employment of the graduates is planned to be carried out through mobile application Smart ARSU.
