Today the Kazakhstan people celebrate the Abai Day. In honor of the 175th anniversary of the great thinker, many events were held throughout the year, some of which were translated into online format due to the pandemic. As President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev noted in his article: “Our people have gone through many trials. Together we will overcome this attack as well. Difficulties come and go, and Abai’s poetry and creativity is eternal”.
Abai’s eternal creativity was discussed today at Zhubanov University. More than 90 literary scholars, poets, writers, young researchers and journalists took part in the online conference “Day of Abai – the symbol of solidarity of the country”.
Rector of the University, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Abai studying Bauyrzhan Yerdembekov talked about the great work carried out within the jubilee year. In particular, he talked about scientific and cognitive expedition “Zhubanovtan – Abaiga” organized by Zhubanov University to the 85th anniversary of the University and 175th anniversary of Abai on the route Nur-Sultan – Pavlodar – Semey – Zhidebay – Semey – Karaganda. The expedition consisted of scientists, teachers and master students. The participants visited universities, research centers, mosques, madrassahs, monuments, museums and natural reserves. The delegation took part in a number of events dedicated to the discussion and study of the heritage of Abai Kunanbaev. As a result of the expedition, a film was released.
Bauyrzhan Yerdembekov noted this activity is planned to continue within the large-scale expedition “Аktobeden – Abaiga”, stressed the importance of Abai’s great personality, today’s holiday and all research and educational work in the field of his works.
During the conference it was also talked about preparation of several scientific works by Zhubanov University scientists for publication (translation of manuscript of Nurseit recorded from words of Abai and encyclopedic dictionary of Abai environment); enlightenment activity and popularization of Abai among schoolchildren within the project ‘Zhubanov kerueni’, etc.
Presentations were made by Abat Pangereev – the head of the research centre “Abaytanu jane ylttyk ruhaniyat”, Rita Zhumagaliyeva – senior teacher of Kazakh literature department, Rakhim Beknazarov – vice-rector on science and innovations, doctor of historical sciences.
