In 2020, Zhubanov University scientists proved their professionalism and won grants worth 160 million tenge. A PhD dissertation council was opened in philology, and two dissertations in mathematics were defended. Hirsch index of the university increased by three positions.
This was stated today at an enlarged meeting of the Academic Council, where the results of the research work of the university were summed up. The Vice-rector for science and innovation Rakhym Beknazarov noted the improvement of the position of the university in the ranking of Kazakh universities in the world for the number of articles and reviews in journals and the dynamics of growth of PhD doctorates (2018 – 14, 2020 – 18) and masters (2018 – 120, 2020 – 184). Four scientists in the Department of Physics and Metallurgy were awarded the title “Associate Professor” in 2020. In addition, Zhubanov University submitted documents for the opening of 6 new PhD doctoral specialties (physical education and sport; pedagogy and psychology; Kazakh language and literature; foreign philology; ecology; metallurgy) and graduate programs (computer science in English; design; philosophy; music education; digital marketing; power engineering).
There were also raised questions of equipping laboratories and research centers, development of applied science, research activities of students and improving performance in the Republican Olympiads.
Among the prospects for the development of science were noted: the implementation of projects in laboratories “Robotics”, “3D modeling”, “Programming” on the basis of the Park Innovation, creation of research laboratory “Mathematical Analysis of Neural Networks” at the Department of Mathematics for grant projects and writing PhD dissertations, organization of winter and summer schools for students in Aktobe region on the basis of the Children’s University, opening of a branch of Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences, etc.
In turn, Anar Darzhanova, Director of the regional chamber of entrepreneurs “Atameken” present at the meeting noted the role of start-up projects of Zhubanov University in formation of culture of entrepreneurship. Urgenshpaev N.M. Environmental Engineer LLP “Research Institute BatysEcoProject” told about the dual training of environmental students, joint activities and research activities, emphasizing the importance of the connection of science with production in the training of qualified personnel.
