William Shakespeare

“All is well that ends well”, “To be or not to be? That is the question”, “Life is a stage, and all the men and women are merely actors” – these and other quotes by Shakespeare have gone around the world and become the global cultural heritage. On the 23rd of April the faculty of foreign languages organized and held a meeting of the student club “Polyglot” devoted to the birthday of the great English poet and playwright William Shakespeare. The world literature community justly considers him to be the founder of the modern English language. The club members watched the presentation on Shakespeare’s biography and literary career, and then some of them recited his famous sonnets in original, refreshed in memory the most popular quotations which are still topical nowadays. In addition, students learnt some fun facts concerning the life of the author of the great tragedies and comedies, e.g. he had six different signatures, he was born and died on the same date, i.e. 23rd of April, etc. The meeting of the “Polyglot” club turned out very interesting and educational for students.
